Jawline Filler Boca Raton: The Products Approved for Jaw and Chin

Jawline filler Boca Raton patients often assume chin and jaw are one treatment. The FDA treats them as two, with separate indications, separate trials and separate approved products — and no single product holds both. Knowing which is which is the difference between a defined profile and a heavy one.

The short answer

Five products hold an FDA approval for this region, and they split cleanly. Two are approved for the jawline: Juvéderm Volux XC and Radiesse (+). Three are approved for the chin: Juvéderm Voluma XC, Restylane Defyne and Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine. No product is approved for both.

The published results are good. For the jawline, Volux XC recorded 69.0% of participants improved at six months against 38.0% of untreated controls, still 61.3% at twelve months. For the chin, Restylane Defyne recorded 86.1% improved at twelve weeks and 73.7% at forty-eight weeks, against 11.1% of controls.

Jawline filler Boca Raton: which products are approved for which area

The FDA approved jawline and chin as separate indications, with different wording, on different trials. Conflating them is the most common error in how this treatment is described, and it matters clinically: a chin product placed along a jaw is being used outside its indication, and vice versa.

Read from the FDA premarket approval database, 26 September 2026. Severity wording is part of the approved indication and is quoted as approved.
Product Area Approved Approved population
Radiesse (+) Jawline 1 Sep 2021 Moderate to severe loss of jawline contour, 21+
Juvéderm Volux XC Jawline 29 Jul 2022 Moderate to severe loss of jawline definition, 21+
Juvéderm Voluma XC Chin 12 Jun 2020 Augmentation of the chin region, 21+
Restylane Defyne Chin 29 Jan 2021 Mild to moderate chin retrusion, 21+
Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine Chin 4 Nov 2025 Mild to moderate chin retrusion, 21+

The severity wording in the last column is doing real work. The two jawline products are approved for moderate to severe loss of contour or definition — they were trialled on people with a noticeably softened jaw, not on people seeking extra definition on an already-defined one. The two Restylane chin products are approved for mild to moderate chin retrusion, a narrower population than anyone wanting a stronger chin. Matching a patient to the population a product was actually trialled on is the most reliable predictor of a result that looks right.

One further distinction worth knowing. Radiesse (+) is the only non-hyaluronic-acid option of the five, which makes it the only one that cannot be dissolved. For a first treatment in this region, that usually argues for starting with one of the hyaluronic acid products.

What the approval trials actually recorded

These are among the better-controlled filler trials, because several used an untreated control arm rather than comparing against another filler. That matters: it shows how much of the improvement is the treatment rather than the passage of time and the goodwill of the assessor.

Responder rates from each product’s FDA Summary of Safety and Effectiveness Data. A responder showed at least a one-point improvement on the relevant validated scale, judged by a blinded evaluator.
Product Area Primary endpoint Control Later
Juvéderm Volux XC Jawline 69.0% at month 6 38.0% 61.3% at month 12
Radiesse (+) Jawline 75.6% at 12 weeks — 67.3% at 48 weeks
Restylane Defyne Chin 86.1% at 12 weeks 6.5% 73.7% at 48 weeks
Juvéderm Voluma XC Chin 56.3% at month 6 27.5% 57.6% at month 12

Restylane Defyne’s chin result is the standout, and the control column is why: 86.1% of treated participants improved at twelve weeks against 6.5% of untreated controls, and 73.7% were still improved at forty-eight weeks against 11.1%. That is close to a year of benefit with an unusually clear separation from doing nothing.

Volux XC’s jawline figures are more modest in absolute terms but were measured against a demanding endpoint: a responder had to show improvement on both sides of the jawline to count. Against an untreated control that drifted upward over the study, 69.0% against 38.0% at six months is a real effect.

What the recovery actually looks like

This region recovers well, and the trial data is specific about it. In the Volux XC jawline study, treatment responses affected 85.2% of participants — tenderness in 80.1%, lumps or bumps in 79.1%, swelling in 77.6% — and most were mild to moderate and resolved within fourteen days. Actual adverse events were uncommon at 8.1% (16 of 198), with no severe events, no serious adverse device effects and no deaths.

One jawline-specific effect is worth knowing in advance because it appears nowhere else: mastication disorder in 2.0% of participants, meaning a temporary awareness of the jaw when chewing. It is uncommon and it settles, but being told about it beforehand is better than discovering it at dinner.

The Radiesse (+) jawline trial reported a similar shape: common treatment responses in 94.9% of 175 participants, 77.7% resolving within fourteen days, and no serious adverse events. The chin products were gentler still — Restylane Defyne recorded treatment-related events in 14.0% of participants with 24 of 25 rated mild and a median duration of four days, and Restylane Lyft recorded related events in 7.0%, all mild.

A useful point of reassurance. The published case series of filler-related visual complications, which covers 365 cases, does not list chin or jawline among the implicated injection sites at all — those cases cluster in the nose, forehead and glabella. The standard intravascular warnings in the labelling apply to every filler and every site, and an experienced injector treats this region with that in mind. But the published record puts chin and jaw among the better-behaved areas of the face.

Frequently asked questions

Is jawline filler the same as chin filler?

No. The FDA approved them as separate indications with separate products. Juvéderm Volux XC and Radiesse (+) are approved for the jawline; Juvéderm Voluma XC, Restylane Defyne and Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine are approved for the chin. No product holds both. Source 1.

How long does jawline filler last?

Juvéderm Volux XC recorded 69.0% of participants improved at six months and 61.3% at twelve months, against an untreated control. Radiesse (+) recorded 75.6% at twelve weeks and 67.3% at forty-eight weeks. Neither has published data beyond twelve months. Sources 2 and 3.

How long does chin filler last?

Restylane Defyne has the strongest published result: 86.1% of participants improved at twelve weeks and 73.7% at forty-eight weeks, against 6.5% and 11.1% of untreated controls. Juvéderm Voluma XC recorded 56.3% at six months and 57.6% at twelve. Sources 4 and 5.

Will it affect chewing?

Occasionally and temporarily. The Volux XC jawline trial recorded mastication disorder — an awareness of the jaw when chewing — in 2.0% of participants. It is uncommon and it settles, and it is specific to jawline treatment rather than chin. Source 2.

Am I a candidate?

The approved indications are specific about it. The jawline products were trialled on moderate to severe loss of jawline contour or definition; the Restylane chin products on mild to moderate chin retrusion. Matching you to the population a product was trialled on is the assessment made at consultation. Source 1.

How soon can I be seen after treatment?

Plan on about two weeks. Most treatment responses in these trials resolved within fourteen days — 77.7% in the Radiesse jawline study, and a median of four days for Restylane Defyne in the chin. Sources 3 and 4.

Why patients choose Brazelia MedSpa

Profile work is the area where the gap between a good injector and an average one is most visible, because the result is judged from the side and from a distance rather than in a mirror at arm’s length. That is why this page leads with which product was trialled on which population, rather than with a syringe count.

Jaw and chin treatment at Brazelia MedSpa is performed by Khali Reed, CRNA, APRN, a master injector her patients know as the Facial Architect, under the medical direction of Dr. Herbert R. Slavin, MD. This region takes volume well and punishes over-treatment, and the approach here is to build a profile across reviews rather than to chase it in one appointment.

Brazelia MedSpa has treated patients from the same address in downtown Boca Raton for 18 years, near Mizner Park, and serves patients across South Florida, from Delray Beach and Boynton Beach to Deerfield Beach and Fort Lauderdale. In a field where med spas open and close within a season, staying in one place that long is its own kind of evidence. Patients rate the practice 4.5 out of 5 across 24 Google reviews.

A face is also rarely treated as just a face here. Because Brazelia MedSpa runs hormone, metabolic, skin and regenerative programmes under one roof, a treatment plan can take account of what else is going on — skin quality, weight change, hormonal shifts — instead of being sold in isolation. Where that is relevant to you it comes up at the consultation. Where it is not, nobody raises it.

New patients start with a consultation, and nothing is treated on a first visit unless you want it to be. You will hear what the approved labelling actually supports before you hear what it costs.

This page describes what published labels, regulatory records and peer-reviewed research report about these treatments. It is general health information, not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a consultation. Whether any treatment is appropriate for you is a clinical judgement that depends on your history and examination.
